Best Italian bakery in SE WI. Sciortino’s bakes the best Italian bread, rolls and cookies in southeastern Wisconsin. All three will melt in your mouth. We order in advance for special occasions and holidays, then pick up the morning of the event. They are always packed on holiday mornings but they manage to handle the crowds with aplomb and our order is always perfect.
YUM, YUM, YUM. All I can say is their bread is some of the best in the city and their cookies are awesome too (and I’m not a sweets person). My mom said her guilty pleasure was stopping at Sciortino’s after visiting with her doctor when she was pregnant with me to stop for some bread and cookies. Oh well, I guess you can’t get away with what you were fed in the womb. Plus, most of the people that work their could be your little grandmother, which just makes stopping and patronizing a place like this all the more enjoyable.
Great Cakes!. We’ve always stopped by for some cookies on occasion, some gelato in the summer, or some ham and rolls on a Sunday. We recently ordered a cake for the first time, and I don’t honestly think that I can ever enjoy a grocery store sheet cake again. You don’t realize what you have been missing until you taste a delicious cake where the frosting is creamy without being a brick of lard, and is sweet without just tasting like sugar. Getting an artfully-decorated homemade cake was worth the extra cost. Sciortino’s definitely made for a happy birthday.
I do NOT recommend this place.. I went there on a recommendation to get a cake for my boyfriend’s birthday. He likes carrot cake and I wanted it decorated like a disc (he’s a huge disc golfer). I ordered the very expensive cake and when I got it, it looked great. I found out later that night when we cut in to it that they made it with raisins. My boyfriend hates raisins and so of course, he didn’t get to eat any of his birthday cake.I emailed them to let them know. All I wanted was an apology. Instead, she told me that raisins are in carrot cake traditionally. My boyfriend and I both have never had carrot cake served with raisins and all the recipes I find on the internet either say nothing at all or nuts. So, not only was I unhappy with the cake, the owner tried to make me feel like I didn’t know what I was talking about.
The holidays just wouldn’t be the same without a box of Italian cookies from Sciortino’s. Many Thanksgivings at our house have been spent enjoying these delicious treats and fighting over the faves. Also, the Italian bread is the best in the city, hands down! This bakery is a classic!
