Mediocre food, long wait. I was excited to try this restaurant after several people recommended it to me. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The food took forever to come out (45 minutes). I wish the server would have told us that our dishes took longer to prepare, but she did not and we had our 15 month old with us; after 45 minutes of waiting at a restaurant, she was getting really restless. When the food finally did come out, myself and my entire party was unimpressed with the food. The soup was a bizarre combination of things: basalmic vinegar, mahi mahi and beer cheese. (Yes, all those in one soup.) Just because those things sound fancy doesn’t mean you should put them all together in a soup. I had the bacon wrapped cheese stuffed chicken. It was okay but overbaked. I couldn’t even cut through the bacon with my knife and the chicken was dry. I am generally easy to please at restaurants, but the LONG wait for the food and then the food being sub par was extremely disappointing. Won’t be going back or recommending this place to others.

Delicious! Great place. Great service and priced resonable. The Philly cheesesteak was probably one of the best I ever had in a restaurant. My wife loved her veggie frittata. See the pic of the Philly. We will be back!!!

This pub has the character that only a hundred plus old building can deliver. When that comes with black and tan onion rings, we have a winner. I accidentally ordered the jerk salmon burger special, thinking it was a jerk salmon sandwich. I can honestly say that I would NEVER order a salmon burger on purpose, but this burger both delivered big flavor and the moist and juicy characteristics that are the reasons to order a burger. I’ll be back.

I’ve been to The Anvil several times, mostly for lunch. All the lunches I’ve had there we always good, unfortunatly, after my last dinner experience, changed my tune. If I visit The Anvil again, it will only be for lunch. My group and I were seated upstairs, and at this point, I will say the atmosphere at the Anvil is beautiful. Its an amazing buildng, in a great location. My guests and I seemed to have a hard time getting drinks, which I thought was odd, as they were only mildly busy. When our food arrived, everyone seemed to have the same opinion which was something along the line of….meh. For instance, I had the flat iron steak, which, while cooked perfectly, was unseasoned and bland. A flat iron steak is typically very lean, which this was, however, that also means less flavorful fat. That is fine, and what I expected, but then a small handful of seasoning can do wonders, as I found the meat nearly void of flavor. Three of us in the group had a side of mashed potatoes, all of went untouched, as they were served very cold. So after a bleak meal, we were prepared to leave, however we had to go find our waitress to get the check, as she seemed to forget about us for over 20 minutes. Again, I found this odd, by the time we left, we were 1 of 4 tables still there. In fact, I counted more servers than seated tables. I will probably return to the Anvil, but it will more likly be for a lunch sandwich, as they do this much better.
