Kim Lai and Jerry Phoa were refugees of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, and immigrated to the United States in 1981 to seek a better life. They met in school and fell in love. In 1983, they married in Milwaukee, WI and had two sons, Wilson and Jimmy Phoa. In October 1997, Kim and Jerry fulfilled their dreams of opening their own restaurant and the originalNew Fortune Chinese Restaurant was born. In August 2012, Kim and Jerry retired New Fortune to allow Jimmy and Wilson to start their own lives and careers. Fast forward to October 2016 - Jimmy and Wilson Phoa teamed up and decided to continue their parents legacy and formed New Fortune Asian Cuisine. Currently, New Fortune carries Cedarburgs favorite recipes from their parents original menu and frequently introduces new specials from Cambodian, Thai, Korean, and Japanese cuisines. The whole Phoa family is happy to be back together in Cedarburg doing what they love.
