Went there for dinner 6/22/16. Food was good but service was not. Food was not worth enduring the poor service. Didn’t see much of our waiter, he never cleared dishes, never offered us a second drink, never refilled water and took forever to get our check. Hostess dropped off folks at tables and then disappeared. As we left we saw her sitting and messing with her cell phone. There were 2 hostesses, why weren’t they helping out if waitstaff was overwhelmed? But must say, having been a waitress for many years, I don’t understand why the waitstaff was overwhelmed – they weren’t that busy! Doubt we go back.
Always a special experience at Captain Bill’s! My friends put their boat in the water & saw the docks were in so we tied off and stopped in for Happy Hour! Got to love Thursdays with Happy Hour All Night Long! Great service, Great Food, Great Times! We will be back! Thank you for starting the summer off right! Looking forward to the music series…..
Jim. Was there on 2/28/2015 order a kansas steak and got a t bone came and told me they would get me the right one after about 10 min they brought me a new one but it was rare not med rare to med like i ordered so we boxed it up went to pay . We talk to the manager after we asked to . He said the first steak was right one but we had got a free steak told us to cook it a little more. His customer service was terrible . thank for not making come back again.
Horrible food and service.. My wife and I are generally not the type of people to complain, but I have to be honest – the experience we had at Captain Bill’s was pretty horrible and we wanted to make future potential customers aware of it. We’ve been to Mariner’s and Nau-Ti-Gal, the other restaurants owned by the company, and thought we’d give Captain Bill’s a shot since we like the other two. It was our first time there and to be perfectly honest it will definitely be our last.I don’t know if the dining room was short staffed or if the kitchen was, but our wait was very long. Our appetizer came out relatively quickly but it took another 25 minutes for our salads to come. Our dinner took quite a while as well and when it finally came two of the entrees were missing their baked potatoes. The waitress said they had run out and were preparing them. When the potatoes finally came 10 minutes later they looked and felt like they’d been sitting out for 10 minutes – rubbery and luke warm. The dinners we had ordered were not good at all. My daughter and wife ordered the Stuffed Tilapia and I chose the Blackened Tilapia. We were expecting a light seafood taste but our Tilapia tasted extremely fishy. Mine was only palatable because of the spices and sauce but my wife couldn’t finish hers due to the taste. My younger two children each ordered a kids’ shrimp dinner and we had to track down a different waitress just to get cocktail sauce and ketchup for them.We were expecting good things – as I mentioned, we’ve enjoyed our meals at the other two restaurants. Our experience at Captain Bills was no where near what we would expect for $20 a plate. To be honest, it was an experience I’d expect to have at a tourist trap type restaurant in the Dells. It certainly wasn’t worth what we paid for it.
Here for restaurant week and the four of us ordered the surf and turf. Our party included a couple going out for the first time after having a baby, and my fianc and I who are expecting soon. I ordered the $10 extra upgrade ny strip with my meal, everyone else got the tenderloin. The clam chowder to start was good. When the steaks came, they were all cooked well done. The table ordered 2 medium rares and 2 mediums, so this was a problem. We sent back the steaks (the pregnant lady ate hers as she was too hungry to wait). The new steaks came, and this time we were given 2 well done and 1 rare! We spoke to the manager, who was rather curt. Our bill was cut in half, which helps, but since only one ate their dinner should have been less.
Ignored at restaurant for 20 minutes — walked out!. I would say that there was poor service, but the problem was that we got no service. We made a reservation for two, and were seated. For 20 minutes, we saw 5 or 6 servers helping people on the deck. But no one even stopped to take a drink order. Finally, we left. The servers were so aloof that as we walked by three standing by the door to the deck, thy just watched us walk out — continuing to ignore us. We will not go back.
Outdated with a view. The service was so so, I did like the steamed shrimp app. and the Walleye dinner was good , but fish fry not so much, the tea was very dark and scary looking. Seem to me that this was the place filled with older people that had been going there for years. Oh yah did I say don’t eat the clam chowder, what a disappointment !!!!!!!!! Over seasoned and hardly what I call New England clam chowder, Calico’s in St. Louis has the best so how this joker ended up on the food network is a joke!!
