Must still be good. Its not amazing that many restaurants last for long periods of time, was I thinking back to some very good Asian places I have been to over the years of travel and The Imperial Garden popped into my thoughts. I was working in Madison for several weeks back in 1987 and visited here many times I had the Imperial Shrimp on one of these visits and have remembered how good it was, so its not a surprise when I looked and it was still in business. If I am ever back in Madison I will be there to try it one more time.
Food was nothing special. For all the likes, positive reviews, and awards on the wall, I’d expect better. I guess Madison doesn’t have any decent Asian places. We even ordered items that were recommended, and the popular items. Not worth visiting.
So-so service with so-so food. This place had raving reviews so I was so excited to try it. Upon entering this place, it look beautifully decorated and authentic.Once receiving the food, I realize it’s no better than any of the other average Chinese restaurant in Madison. Maybe I should’ve ordered from the exclusive menu with Chinese favorites?? The service was terrible, but I believe it was only with one particular waitress. She was incredibly slow and cold, and I had to ask other waitress for help. This was during dinner service around 7:30PM.
Best Chinese I have had in a long time. I had the General’s Pork(ordered it extra spicy), it was great. Wife loved hers too. Service was great and helpful.
Best Chinese food in Dane county! Although I prefer the east-side imperial Garden on e washington ave, madison.
Great experience. We dined here on a Sunday night and tried the Sunday special Peking Duck appetizer. Really nicely cooked duck and a great portion size for an appetizer (would be good for 4 people or more)! The egg rolls were the best I have had in Madison and the Sesame Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken were perfect! This was my first time at Imperial Garden. It exceeded my expectations and will be the only Chinese restaurant that I will dine at in Madison from now on.
I like the food here. I think it’s pretty consistently good. Lunch is much cheaper than dinner, and just as good. I have eaten at the eastside Imperial Garden, it’s not as good at all-and the restaurant doesn’t seem as clean. Not sure why they’re so different.
