I came here about once a month when I lived in Madison. My fiance came to visit me and I brought her here. She had the meatloaf and I had the lobster mac and cheese. We loved them! When she returned a few months later to help me move back home to Oklahoma City she had the lobster mac and cheese while I had the meatloaf. Still an incredible meal! If we ever make it to Wisconsin again we’ll come here.
It’s ok…I mean it was right next to my hotel and I was tired so I ambled over. I have to admit – the concept of an Italian steakhouse was a bit confounding (which one is it???). After asking the waitress which way I should go I went with steak with a side of pasta marinara. She also recommended the mushroom side (I figured I’d have leftovers for lunch). After ordering the complementary salad and focaccia bread came out. The salad was fine but someone needs to tell Johnny the bread he’s serving is most certainly NOT focaccia. That may be what’s passing in the heartland as focaccia but I’m sorry to burst your bubble. So the main dish arrived. The petite filet wasn’t kidding…it was probably 1/2 inch thick and as big as a deck of cards. Tender enough but meh. The mushrooms were substantial but again – nothing mindblowing. The pasta was slightly over cooked and the marinara sauce was weird…couldn’t put my finger on it…too much sugar? Too much basil?? Id return if it were late and didn’t want to venture far but overall a meh experience.
