Ok, but not great – service was not good. When we visited the restaurant, we placed our order, paid for it, and only then were we told that we couldn’t eat there as they were closing. My wife and toddler son came into the restaurant with me so I think it was obvious we were planning to stay and eat there before we ordered. Had we known they were closing, we would have appreciated knowing so we could choose to eat elsewhere. The people seemed a little grouchy, too.
Frequent customer- Delish!. I am a frequent customer of D- city. The food is always fresh and tastes great. The owners are very friendly on the phone when ordering pick-up and also are always nice when I arrive. I have never had one meal that I didn’t like. Highly recommend for a decent chinese american meal 🙂
Nice Owners and Great Food!. We’ve eaten food from Dragon City in Verona, WI monthly/weekly for many years. We also get food for our family parties. The owners are very nice and the food they serve is terrific. The chicken and beef is always tender and the veges are always fresh. They will prepare food with no oil if you request it, (obviously only if It isn’t a fried item), and make our food more or less spicy per our request. The portions are never skimpy. You get a lot for your money! We ate shrimp with mixed veges every Friday last year during Lent.We are picking up dinner there tonight as a matter of fact. :)YUM YUM YUMMMMM!
So GOOD. Don’t come here if you expect the usual fast-food Chinese. The Kung Pao Chicken is laden with beautiful fresh carrots and celery. The General Tso Chicken is on a bed of steamed broccoli. The Mai Foon has carrots and spinach and cabbage(?) and other crunchy and delightful veggies. The crab rangoon is amazing. All of the items I’ve tried have been more flavorful than any other Chinese restaurant I’ve tried in Madison. The owners are super efficient and have never made a mistake on my order. Try this place, you’ll be glad you did.
Good but not Chicago good.. I have eaten true Chinese in China, Chicago Chinese and rural neighborhood Chinese. Dragon City’s Chinese definitely falls under the rural neighborhood Chinese menu. However, it is definitely one of the top two out of the 8 I’ve tried across the Midwest. I like that I can see the cooks, cook and while it is not necessary, it does help that the order-takers are always easy to understand. I order the same thing here as I do when I am in Chicago and while side-by-side they are pretty different, Dragon City is a decent replacement when I can not have the best!
I went with a friend based on the high approval rating, but I’m at a loss as to why. The Kung Pao chicken was a mounded plate of carrot, peppers, celery, peanuts, and dark tasteless chunks of chicken. It’s not so much as it tasted bad as it had no taste at all. My friend had the mooshoo pork and ate only a few bites from the mass of brown mush, and the pancakes looked like something that was frozen and then microwaved. Overall, this was very disappointing and forgettable.
Dragon City is cheap and provides you with quality food that is made with love. I will be returning often because of the family like environment
