A nice place for drinks on the balcony on a summer afternoon or evening. It overlooks the Fox river and the DePere dam. Appetizers were also good. We had lunch there on another occasion and while my Eggs Benedict was good, others in our party didn’t enjoy their food as much. It has a very nice inside bar and dining room and we will give it another try. Service was friendly even though the waiter spilled gravy on my pants… i guess mistakes happen…

Cafe Chanson has something for everyone in price range and food preference. Small plates or large plates, sandwiches or leg of lamb- everything I’ve tried is delicious. Plus, you can’t beat the view of the Fox River in De Pere. The waitstaff is friendly and the chef always comes out to check how your meal tasted. I’d recommend this for anyone who likes trying new restaurants with a view.
Meh. How an inspiring and well talked about restaurant can make a critical poor choice is beyond my comprehension which had to leave me with an I dont like. The fatal error was offering a fourteen ounce rib eye steak that was literally half to two-thirds fat. I understand that rib eyes are not the leanest choice of beef but this well past some marbling. I did appreciate that they did try to make amends by giving me a free drink and desert, although this would still not change my overall dining experience because the entre is the focal point of a meal. I cant fathom why a restaurant that is trying to pride its reputation on quality serve such a poor cut of meat. I would not find it acceptable to prepare that cut of meat to a guest at my home. In regards to the encouraging items; the mussel appetizer was very good. The wait staff was excellent; they were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable especially under the conditions of my complaint. The pepper and cognac sauce that was on the steak was very flavorful. The crme brulee and profiteroles were also a positive to finish off this meal. Overall I would find it hard to return given there are many other dining options in the Bay and Fox Valley area.
One of the hidden gems of the Green Bay area. It has an excellent view of thr Fox river. It is situated in a historic mill, really a unique location. They have an excellent selection of sandwiches in the $8-10 range. I am a huge fan of the Croque Madame which is a French version of a hot ham and cheese accompanied by a fried egg. The French onion soup is tasty, as is the spinach and bacon salad. For the dinner entrees ($15-25) I have to recommend the Beef Bourguinon, it’s one of those beef entrees that melts in your mouth. The wine selection is excellent and the staff is well versed on how to pair wine with your meal. They even have a decent selection of beers both craft and international. Give it a try, I think you will leave impressed.
