This local classic hasn’t changed since I was a kid. Its a little piece of local history that has never let its quality slide. It isn’t cheap. It isn’t complicated. Its just simple perfection. I have spent a lot more money and never had it buy me a better steak. I always leave with a heavy box of leftovers. Its easy to drop $100 for dinner here for a couple, but its worth every penny.

Wonderful. I, too, have no idea what restaurant Bill was at. It certainly was not the Union Hotel. Portions are generous. No way did he get an 8 oz. steak.

Review response. I don’t know what restaurant Bill was at, but I have had the N. Y. Strip at the Union. It is an 18 – 20 ounce (not 8 ounce) aged on premise ‘Certified Angus Beef’ steak and the price is $32.75 (not $20.00). Best Strip I have ever had. The price includes homemade rolls, relish tray (w/ liver pate, ham salad and cheese spread), soup, salad, potato & dessert. Portions are definitely not a problem here! You will not leave hungry!

Portions far too small, price far too high. I actually went to Subway after a forced family function there. Probably was a great place to eat years ago, it isnt anymore. Skimpy NY Strip steak, taste was good enough, but for 20 bucks i thought it’d be bigger than about 8 ounces.

Love this place!. This is an awesome place and very special – my parents always took me there for special events, graduation, birthdays ect. I have never had a bad meal and the staff have always been very gracious. For my college graduation we had a party of 8 and they gave us an entire room upstairs to ourselves so we could talk and laugh ect definitely one of my best memories

Resturant decor is extremely outdated, service was quick and checked in frequently, perch with bones in was tasty and moist, steak was undercooked but was seasoned well, salad was plain and not well dressed. Still would recommend to a friend. Beware though is pricey.

Enjoyable. A colleague of mine and I were attending a conference at St. Norbert College and decided to cross the river to check this place out. I’m glad we did. Our food was excellent as was our service. We both loved the atmosphere of the old building and the small dinning room. It was an enjoyable time.
