Not your normal bar food The have a very Interesting take on food. I tried the jambalaya on night and a scotch egg and old world selection (bratwurst and knackwurst) another night. Both had great flavor. I would come back if in the area.
Great Beer – Average food wanting to be better. It seems like the owners want to make their food more upscale, more innovative, and it all looked really good and creative on the menu – but when it came, the sides, or underpinnings lacked flavor. A couple of examples: – The sausages on the Sausage Platter were delicious, but the spaetzel was just plain wierd (not white and simple, but seemed somehow like they’d been deep fried and ended up tasteless and doughy), and the german style red cabbage lacked the sweet/sour punch. On the prosciutto wrapped shrimp with pasta, the shrimp were great – but the pasta itself was just kind of blah. On the other hand, they have a wonderful, friendly waitstaff!
By the way, ask for Will if he’s there. Awesome service!15 Nov, 2011The Ruben is absolutely awesome as are the chips. My husband and i split that and the old world special were delighted. We substituted spatzel for the potatoes salad and were not disappointed. Just ordered the white chocolate and raspberry tort to split. Huge portion and very tasty. Service was absolutely spot on and the venue is not too loud. I highly recommend this place. Sample the beer if you like! Not my cup of tea but they have an extensive selection. A++!
Ham & Cheese Omelet. This thing was huge, packed with ham and cheese and cooked perfectly.27 Aug, 2011Scotch Egg. My favorite appetizer at WSB. The slightly spicy sausage and grainy brown mustard make this a very flavorful dish. Excellent with their Bavarian Weiss. Nice presentation as well.27 Aug, 2011Fish tacos. Corn tortillas, fresh pico de gallo, and the crispy battered fish were much better than expected – pretty good Tex-Mex for Wisconsin. I would order this again.27 Aug, 2011Best in Grafton. I was reluctant to try this restaurant but good friends from Cedarburg invited us to join them for brunch and I can’t say no to friends. The place is enormous with plenty of bar, dining room and patio seating. The booths are roomy and private. The building is pretty noisy during peak times because of the high ceiling and all the hard surfaces. This location seems much more family friendly than the others – maybe because there are more families in Grafton than downtown Milwaukee. The menu offers typical bar/pub fare but the food is a bit better than most. Brunch was much better than expected although the poached eggs in our Eggs Benedict had hard yolks. Our server told us that they prepare them that way because of the health risk from undercooked eggs but I’ve never encountered hard yolks in Eggs Benedict at any other restaurant. When asked, however, she cheerfully replaced the dish with our eggs poached as requested. There is a nice variety of lunch/dinner items and so far everything we’ve tried has been quite good, even the Mexican-style dishes exceeded our expectations. The staff is very accommodating but could use a bit more education on menu items as our server was unfamiliar with the term ‘hollandaise’ and a few other common menu terms. Regardless, all the servers we’ve encountered have been very friendly and attentive, if not all that savvy. But I prefer helpful to savvy any day. We are in Grafton fairly often (Costco addicts) and until we tried this restaurant, had been unable to find any other worth a second try. Water Street Brewery is the best in the area.
Food was good, not great but the service was fast, friendly and the patio atmosphere was fun. It’s reasonably priced, too.
Slow service, but great food and atmosphere. I would definitely go back.
Clean and pleasant. Food was prepared well and service was good.
