A Step Up. There are many Tex Mex style restaurants in the Appleton area but my favorites are the Solea locations especially the original in Menasha. The service is always prompt and friendly. Last night we had a large group w/kids of all ages so they set us up in our own room. The veteran waiter got the kids their drinks and dinners promptly to keep them happy while the adults ate at their leisure. They have a wide variety of excellent enchiladas and their mole sauce is quite good. Last night I had the fish tacos which are good but my portion was a bit smaller than I recall. I’ll order them again to see if it’s a trend. Bottom line Solea has always been a positive experience primarily because the employees seem to appreciate us being there.

I came to the restaurant today at 9:40 to eat with my girlfriend. The manager met us at the door and said that they were closing. He then asked if we were going to eat which we were so he could refuse us service again. This is not how you treat customers. I think this place needs to go through some training.

A favorite stop. One very hot day a few weeks ago this amateur novelist had a whole Monday off and to himself to just sit around and write. I decided to spend the day at a casual dining restaurant and to avoid the whole writer sipping chai tea at a coffee shop cliche I decided instead on sitting at the outdoor patio at Solea enjoying half price margaritas and free salsa for as long as I could before they forced me to actually order something. I didn’t know it was half price margaritas at the time until I got my bill at which point I told her to take the slip of paper back and return with two more mango margaritas in the largest glasses they serve. On this particular occasion I had ordered the fish tacos, a lighter meal than my normal order (the always delicious pineapple chipotle pork burrito) due to the immense heat. Despite all the negative reviews I had heard about their fish tacos they were very enjoyable.(I have since learned that said negative reviews were given by a bunch of cilantro haters)As for the salsa and bean dip I would have to say I personally feel that some of the other Mexican restaurants in the area do much better. The group sitting next to me asked the waiter for an extra hot version of the salsa (didn’t know we could do that) to which he gladly obliged but I had already finished my meal by that point and was saving the rest of my room for more margaritas! Maybe next time….

Best margaritas in town… Well anywhere. Awesome food! One of my faves!

Ehh, It was OK. I stopped here with a friend for lunch and I was not blown away. Everything tasted very average at best. The meat filling in our burritos was bland and didn’t wow us with freshness at all. foxvalleyfoodie.com

This place was really good when they first opened, but slow, mediocre service and cold food has left a sore spot for me. It will be the last place we go now.
