I used to be a big fan of this place when they first opened, but not anymore. They have good food and good drinks but the service is TERRIBLE. Probably because it’s too busy for its own good. Moreover, their popularity has seemed to fuel their GREED. We went there for my Mother’s 50th birthday and they would not sing happy birthday without charging us $5 to sing. When we ordered regular margaritas they brought the premium version, which is $4 more. It just seemed that they were trying to add on additional charges at every turn. I will no longer go here or El Fuego on 9th and Layton (same ownership).
Typical Mexican restaurant in Wisconsin, but they do have a secret weapon – their dishes with arbol sauce. Most Mexican restaurants in Wisconsin shy away from spicy dishes, but the arbol wings, and the arbol chicken, steak, and shrimp tacos are spicy (I’ve eaten a ghost chili if you’re wondering what my spice tolerance is) and spectacular. Their peanutty creamy spicy arbol sauce is the best I’ve ever had an I did a study abroad in Mexico.
