The selections of tea and coffee were fine, but I was unimpressed. The whole place is freezing in winter; I didn’t even take off my down jacket. And the staff were a little unfriendly. I don’t care to go back.
Good coffee, bad attitude. I used to live down the street from Fuel and was a fairly regular customer. Great coffee, but, man did the employees have bad attitudes, very much along the lines of what most of us Brooklynites regularly encounter in the East Coast hipster paradise also known as Williamsburgh.
I have fueled up here often. Pun intended.. Great service (for a city), great vegan eats (oh the VLT), and pretty good coffee. Down the street from Mad Planet, just a good place.
Interesting. Went to Milwaukee on a sort of business trip. When my supervisor told me we were stopping at a cafe for lunch, this certainly wasn’t what I expected. It’s got a very punk rock/anarchistic/diy thing going on which I enjoyed. The food costed more than I usually like to spend on food considering I make minimum wage, but it was worth the price. The service was pretty slow, and the first time I went the cashier was friendly, but the second time the cashier (a different girl) didn’t put much effort into her work. I got the PBAB- peanut butter apple and bacon sandwich. It sounds pretty strange but it was tasty, unfortunately the peanut butter mostly overpowers the taste of the bacon. A coworker ordered the Cuban, and hated it, but when we returned a couple days later he ordered a different sandwich and was much happier this time. Another coworker ordered a massive burrito type thing and loved it. The homemade chips were tasty also. Even if it doesn’t sound like your scene, it’s worth a trip as the food is very good.
I like it, but…. Good food, good drinks. Service is kind of slow and not really friendly, but, it’s not like I go there looking for much so it’s tolerable. Prices reasonable. The sandwiches are always good and served with yummy El Rey tortilla chips. Sometimes I don’t feel cool enough to be in there, but, it is what it is.
Good Coffee!. Good bang for your buck! Hot chicks! Retro motorcycles!Try the Joey Buttafucco sandwich, you won’t be dissappointed.
I’m not sure I’ve tried anything on their menu other than the Spicy Salami Sandwich and their chili (except when I’m stealing a bite from a dining partner when they go to the bathroom), but the spicy salami sandwich is possibly my favorite sandwich in the city. Admittedly, the service can at times be sub par and I don’t know much about the other things they make, but the spicy salami sandwich is my ultimate comfort food. Toasted, cheesy, spicy, meaty . . . how are any of these a bad thing? I always get it with a cranberry iced sports tea. The chili is good too. I like the noodles. A pretty good tonic for hangover belly.
