Our Favorite During Midwest Organic Farming Conference. We were in LaCrosse this past weekend for the annual Midwest Organic Farming conference. Piggy’s has been a favorite of my husband’s for years, and now it is also mine. It is a beautifully decorated place in a totally renovated former warehouse. We had some of the best prime rib ever, rare, exactly as I ordered it, and a delicious salad beforehand. The menu included a variety of choices, but we were hungry for prime rib. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. My wine, moscato d’asti was superb. We shared a specialty drink that was delicious; Bailey’s, amaretto, hot chocolate and Grand Marnier, we think, with whipped cream on top. Yummy! The owner came to our table when we told our server how good the prime rib had been. He was friendly and filled us in on how he and his wife had remodeled the old warehouse. It was a delightful evening with great food.
Best salad bar and soup in town. Great place for lunch, with friends or for business.
A lot nicer restaurant than the name implies. So far, my favorite restaurant in la crosse. Good barbecue. The cheese curds were not too heavy. Aldo gotvyhe braised beef ravioli. I will definitely come back on future trips.
Great for gluten free. Downstairs lounge is more casual and has same food plus great lounge menu. Food here has always been great plus they are accommodating to a gluten free diet. One of the best GF menus I’ve seen in town. Great blues band on Friday nights. Ribs are excellent as is the blackened cod sandwich. Also recommend the bacon wrapped shrimp, don’t know what the sauce is but its great.
Great food, pricey by La Crosse standards, but appropriate for larger cities. I don’t like the addition of booths in the dining room, makes it feel cramped.
Great Salad and Soup Lunch Buffet. Piggy’s is one of my go-to places for lunch because they have the best salad buffet in town. Their salad creation options are the extensive, fresh, and tasty, and paired with their unparalleled breadsticks, it’s addiction inducing. The soup selections are similarly awesome. For a salad lunch buffet, it’s a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for in terms of quality (and if you’re really hungry, quantity).In the evening, the menu changes entirely and becomes a much more upscale dining experience. The menu options have never disappointed (especially the jumbo shrimp pasta dish), but it is definitely a special occasion eatery.
Downstairs yes, upstairs not so much.. Stop in for the best soup and salad lunch in town- 11-2. Very reasonable prices, fresh soup, expansive salad bar with all kinds of delicious dressings! My favorite when visitors are in town. Also, go hang out in the blues lounge and share an appetizer sampler. Still trying to figure out how they make those wonderful crab cakes! Good sandwiches, fresh meats and fish, and a great wine list. Baked potatoes the size of your head. Always a hit. Sitting upstairs for dinner is less worth it most times- either they are very busy or not at all, and it seems kindof snooty and expensive for portions that should be larger. They do make a killer steak, but it’ll cost you. I would probably always choose Digger’s instead if it wasn’t for the fun I’ve had downstairs. Great music too- and not so loud you can’t hear your date.
