Love the delicious small plates meant for sharing, and a new favorite the coconut green curry mussles on Monday!

Great, knowledgeable staff. I really enjoyed our waitress. She answered every question we had about the wine, and didn’t pressure us into buying something we didn’t want. Two thumbs up for the staff! Good atmosphere too, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.I know they offer small plate dining, but the portions are VERY small. The coq au vin chicken wings were unimpressive and dry.

$6 Ginger Ale!. Although a bit dark, I enjoyed the atmosphere and the Sac Mac was pretty good (although got to be too much bleu cheese after a while). I didn’t want to drink, so I got a ginger ale. This was just basic fountain drink ginger ale in a glass filled to the top with ice. The server proceeded to give me a refill without mentioning he’d charge me again for the same drink. I got the bill and it was $3 for each glass! That’s the most I’ve ever spent on soda (including NYC and Seattle). It’s too bad, I was thinking about going back here in the future, but this makes me like the restaurant a lot less. Seems sneaky of them.

Always Amazing. Balzac is the kind of place you can always feel comfortable dining in – whether you are hitting the bars or a night at the Symphony. The wine selection is great, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is fabulous. I highly recommend starting with a cheese platter and then moving on to the scallops or the the tenderloin. They have a good dessert selection, with usually one dessert having several options. One note – you may want to stay away from the applejack tart which sometimes has more black pepper than tart.

One of my absolute favorites. Balzac is far and away one of my favorite Milwaukee restaurants. I seriously think the food is underrated– wish more people knew of or thought of this as a restaurant and not just a place for great wine. They’ve revamped the menu and while there are some really perfect additions, they also kept all the favorites. The scallop BLT, Italico Deluxe, Duck Nachos, Napoleon, Beef and Bleu are just a few of my addictions. Great, great fries. You can share everything or just order for yourself.

Different than what I expected. Nice place. I was expecting normal entrees, but Balzac really primarily serves small plate meals (larger than normal tapas). Monday’s is 50% off wine flights, which is good because I would’ve found them overpriced if not. The duck confit nachos, scallops (with amazing sweet potatoes), and peach dessert were the standouts. Service was fine, and restaurant decor was unique but nice. I’d go back
