Small plates, good wine. Half off glasses on Wednesday! Try the charcuterria & quesos. Fun atmosphere, aspiring to old Hollywood. Pulling it off in a Madison sort of way.

One is left with the impression no one who works there really wants to be there. Indifferent service. Only passable attempts at trendy tapas. A standout dish: the grilled artichoke hearts. I love well executed tapas. This was not it.

So-so food and atmosphere. This restaurant needs to work on its identity – is it a college bar or a high end restaurant??We were in town from Racine, and walking down State St when we saw Icon. We love Spanish food and frequently eat at Olde Madrid in Racine. We made a reservation for 9pm (Sat night). When we arrived, we were seated at a table in the bar area even though there were plenty of tables in the quieter dining area. The place became very loud with people at the bar shouting and laughing, and we couldn’t hear the server taking our order. We finally asked to be moved to a quieter spot. Then the bartender turned up the music, making it even harder to talk. The tapas were very average potato croquettes, zucchini and asparagus frittes, and beef empanadas (we received chicken instead). The bottom line is that we have eaten far better Spanish food, and have a new appreciation for our Racine tapas restaurant!

Sadly dissapointed…main problem, duck breast obviously cut while undercooked and then thrown in a saute pan or on flattop to finish quickly…made duck very chewy and over cooked, could have been good but rushed food and ended up serving a sloppily cooked dish. Sorry guys but I won’t be returning after spending 15 dollars on something I didn’t like and then getting charged for it anyways.

Good sangria. $2.50 every Tuesday and Thursday. Good tapas selection. Slow service.

    Excellent place. True tapas.
