I participated in a private event here, a rehearsal dinner. We had the dining room to ourselves. It was gracefully set without ostentation. The servers were warm, attentive, and efficient. The food was terrific, classic American fare, perfectly prepared. We began with fresh sourdough bread, light and crusty. Salads were a very nice mix of greens with exactly the right vinaigrette. My table companions raved about the risotto — someone even got up from our table and visited each of the other tables to encourage everyone to try it. I had a very nice roasted chicken, accompanied by beautiful little rosemary potatoes. Everything was perfectly seasoned. I could have easily made a meal of those grilled string beans, the best I’ve ever had. A dessert bar included lovely-looking cheesecake draped with raspberries, carrot cake, lemon cupcakes, vegan ginger cookies, and, my choice, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate sponge cakes, served with a scrumptious chocolate sauce and creme fraiche. Our room was well-lit, and I don’t know if the Kennedy Manor would make for a romantic evening. But I applaud its kitchen and its servers for the experience they offered our group. Be aware that the Kennedy Manor does not provide parking. Its lot is reserved for residents of its apartments upstairs. The building is in a residential neighborhood, mixed in with homes and fraternity houses. Give yourself an extra ten minutes to drive around the block looking for a spot in the street to park, or else plan to park in the ramp at Wisconsin Ave. and W. Johnson and walk up the hill three blocks on Wisconsin Ave,

Delicious. We were the only people in the restaurant on a Tuesday night. The service was great and not overbearing. Good bread with lots of butter, and a nice beer selection. Both of the salads we ordered were fantastic. The entrees were top notch as well. Great presentation, nicely cooked, lots of flavor. The chocolate pudding cake was great too. The menu was fairly small, but they really did a nice job with the dishes that we had. I would definitely come back here. It’s a unique spot with really good food.
