First time, not last time. I finally made it to the Plaza Tavern for a Plazaburger; I was not disappointed. The burger, with grilled onions and cheddar cheese was great. The Plaza Tavern itself was a pleasant surprise, being more of a bar then a restaurant with lots of atmosphere and a few characters. the staff was very nice, and the service was GREAT. I will be going back for sure
It’s a bar burger — how high can your expectations really be?
Dive bar. This off State Street bar has been around for ages and hasn’t been updated since then! They claim to have the best burger in Madison and really don’t have bragging rights here as their burger is below par – tasteless bun, small beef patty with a good sauce. Many spots in Madison serve much better burgers. BUT, the selection of beer is very good and mid-range expensive. With so many good pubs around, my trips to the Plaza Tavern are limited to once a decade or so.
A classic State St. tavern that hasn’t changed in decades. Stiff drinks, good taps, local sports and a diverse crowd keep the crowds coming back week after week.
