  Great Food, excellent location but expensive. I was in town for the weekend visiting my college sons. They were happy to have a meal of any kind if I picked up the bill for. I was staying at the Edgewater, my flight had been changed due to weather and I got into town much later than expected. So eating at the hotel became very attractive. The service was wonderful. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and we were taken good care of. Our water glasses were topped off often, drink refills were ordered and the food recommendations were almost spot on. We had the crab cake appetizer, which was out of this world. I have never had anything like it. I believe they said it was made with a shrimp mouse which gave it a light and fluffy texture. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail that we all agreed was very average. Large beautiful shrimp, accompanied by a spicy cocktail sauce, but nothing exciting or different. Our main courses were all excellent. We had a pork and a chicken entree which were both delicious. The pork came with grits that were really good. I ordered the beet salad as my entree. I should have been told that it was 6 beautifully prepared beets, lined up in a row and drizzled with dressing. It was both beautiful and delicious but not a salad and not an entree. It was expensive but other that the shrimp and beets, we enjoyed an amazing meal

  New Year’s Eve $95 a person 5 couse menu only. OK I get it, it’s new year eve. Food was very good, service was good., atmosphere – eh. I am not convinced the value is there. I can get very good food in a lot of places in Madison at much less the cost and more atmosphere. I voted I liked it purely on the food. The experience was not a wow!
