  Neighborhood Gem. When we first moved to Madison, we were a little lost on where to go for breakfast. Small-batch, gluten-free vegan scones abound, but where could you just get some good ol’ comfort food breakfast?Mickey’s to the rescue! I almost always get the scramble of the day, but really enjoy the eggs benedict. My husband is a big fan of the waffle. The potatoes that come with many of the breakfast options are awesome — always crispy, and just the right amount of peppers. We really like that coffee and water is serve yourself, so even if you have to wait for a table, you can still get your dose of caffeine.Recently, we finally made to Mickey’s for something other than breakfast (or drinks at night, of course), and sat out on the back patio. The lamb burger was exactly what I hoped it would be, and my husband was excited to have the World’s Best Sandwich again after it departed the breakfast menu a while back.The one thing you absolutely need to be aware of, though, is that they are a cash only establishment. There is an ATM on site if you forget.

  Love the food, but tonight I went out with a bunch of professionals from work and was treated poorly by a staff named Emma, later she said she was the manager and again was even more rude. I would never go again after being treated so poorly. We spent over a hundred dollars on food and drinks and tipped over 20%then she said they were done serving. Not even a minute after she refused to refill our drinks she filled two tables around us and they didn’t even order food. Super sad that we would be turned off by a place that prior to tonight had always enjoyed. Too bad Emma was so rude.

  Great local food. We recently tried the food at Mickey’s for the first time and were extremely happy with the quality and value of the menu. We had lunch on our first visit and enjoyed the World’s Best Sandwich and a Veggie Burger. The sandwiches come with a tasty slaw in viniagrette with onions and peppers, and house made potato chips. While there we noticed pizza on the menu and ventured back a few days later to try that. The crust was thin and crispy, and the toppings fresh and somewhat unique. Pizzas automatically come with cheese and red sauce, then you add your other toppings as you please. I ordered mine with caramelized onions (from the burger list) and truffle oil. The combination was outstanding and went well with a small house salad served with a balsamic reduction. Pizza is served only at night, as are a couple of other dinner items. The menu is reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of the ingredients.
