First time coming in to eat here in a long time. The quality of both the service and the food has gone down significantly. Had to literally wait for everything even though there was only 3 tables. Waitress was completely oblivious to our needs. Waited 15 minutes for our first beer and we decided to cancel the second beer because they were talking too long. They seemed to not communicate to each other. I had to go up to the counter multiple times to ask for things. I’ve been to the Monroe St. location and it is 1000 times better. Really disappointed and don’t think I’ll return or get delivery.
We had a coupon so decided to try out The Roman Candle Pizzeria. Upon entering we were told to sit where ever we wanted. The booths on the sides all have little table-tops which pull down from the walls to put the pizzas on over the tables themselves. For the center tables, they bring out stands to put the pizzas on. Our waiter promptly came by w/menus and asked for our drink order. We asked for a couple of minutes to peruse the menu and that began the rather slow response time.When our server did return we ordered beers, salads and pizza. There weren’t a lot of patrons there when we arrived but it continued to get busier the longer we were there. Our beers arrived and eventually our salads. The side salads were very tasty, with just the right amount of dressing. Eventually the pizza arrived and it was top-notch. Thin, crispy crust; tasty sauce; plentiful and yummy toppings. We wondered if they made the sausage themselves, it had an excellent fennel flavor. The pizza was easily some of the best we’ve had in Madison.I’d certainly give the Roman Candle Pizzeria another chance on the merits of their food. Hopefully the speed of the service and delivery of the food will improve.

A hour & 20 min for a pizza delivery down the street- come on! Wish I could say this was a isoloated issue, but its not. Mybe on site service is better?????
