Disappointment tonight. I have had many meals at Monona Garden and the experience has usually been great. The service is always friendly and the food delicious. I had a great disappointment tonight though. I took my parents and son out for dinner and ordered the Steak and Shrimp dinner which I usually get. The steak is usually thick and big enough for me to take half home to have for a second meal. When my meal arrived, however, the shrimp was perfect, as usual, but the paper thin piece of meat was not what anyone would call a steak. The menu and the prices hadn’t changed so I asked if this was a mistake (maybe they cooked me a breakfast steak by accident.) The menu hadn’t changed, and the price wasn’t any lower, but this was definitely NOT the steak I had been served in the past. The waitress went to ask and was told by the owner that this was what he had changed to. There was no possible way that this sorry piece of meat weighed 10oz. While the rest of the meal was wonderful, and I wasn’t going to take my disappointment out on the waitress, I know I’ll never order the steak again. I may return to the restaurant for other things, but not as often, because I will now need to find a new restaurant that knows what a steak should be.
