Will never go again. Maybe I just got stuck with a bad waitress but she was awfully rude. My mum and I ordered the chicken dumpling soup, and it was almost like someone spilled the spice in. Don’t get me wrong, I love spicy foods, but this was gross. The soup was very spicy and had a watery consistency. Then we got our salads. I had the broccoli cheese one, and it was gross. The broccoli was bland, and the lettuce looked and tasted like it was old. The only good thing about the place was the decor in my opinion. I was fond of the dim lighting, but other than that it was a bad experience.
Hole in the wall. I went once but plan to go back for valentines. It was very unique. Dimly lit, quiet, candles, etc. Like a hole in the wall kinda place. I mean the food was good but i really enjoyed the atmosphere. You can go just about anywhere and have good food but it is VERY hard to find a nice quiet/romantic restaurant. This was from my one experience though… so maybe it’s worse at different times.
Bad News. The prices for just about all processed food, the tomato was broken down it ran off my sandwich the lettuce was a full piece with the full stem in the sandwich. I think the cook didnt know what they were doing and wanted to get rid of some roten tomatoes instead of putting them down. not real bacon but alot of it ( the worst thing I ever eat) why would you charge that much and not put real bacon?? I dont understand the whole place. It was good 10 years ago, but looks like they stopped caring about STANDARDS because anyone that would put things like that on a sandwich and charge that much stopped caring along time ago. Others things were not good but picked the 2 that needed to be said to the owner of this place. RAISE YOUR STANDARDS FOR YOUR FOOD some people in this town do care about what they put in thier bodies.
Had a good meal here. friendly service and reasonable prices. Copious local place.21 Jul, 2012Have eaten here several times. Friendly place and good food.. Had a good haddock dish that was excellent. Will try some of the sandwiches next time.
Chalice Sauce!?. What is in that sauce!? It is the absolute BEST!
Great Experience. Best pastrami around. I was hesitant about getting a grilled sandwich that cost $9, but I was not disappointed. The sandwich was huge, and the pastrami was the best I’ve had in Wisconsin. Only downside of the place is that the dining area is small.
Great Date. When my Husband and I used to live in Oshkosh, we were young Parents with a huge snobbery for food but not a huge budget. We love the Chalice because of the Dim lighting, it’s small and quaint. But the menu is laid back, but very delicious. Gourmet food, without the price. I LOVE their Garden Sandwich, and the Portobello appetizer. So if you’d like a really nice date night out for not a lot of money, The Chalice is perfect. For 2 people eating an appetizer, Dinner, and a Drink, you usually won’t spend more than $30.
