To us, an Oshkosh must. The thing to get is the El Grande which, true to its name, is a bit of everything served on not one but two plates. In past years I might have given Durango’s a slightly higher rating but in recent visits of the last couple of years the food seems to have lost a little something.Despite that it’s still among our top choices for Mexican food and always worth a visit when we’re in town.
An Okay Place To Get Mexican Food…. I was very torn between selecting that I liked/didn’t like Durango’s, to be honest. For me, it’s a 5.5/10 sort of place. Just slightly above average on a good day. I like my food to be spicy AND flavorful. Durango’s is rather plain, but will make it hotter for you by request. If you do order it spicy, you will get a spicier but still somehow bland version of the original. The service is okay; no one has been rude to us, but they don’t seem to go out of their way, either. The chips and salsa we got with our meal were very sub-par compared to other places that serve fresh, homemade salsa. This tasted like it came right out of a jar, to us. I would definitely recommend other local places over this one, but it’s not terrible in a pinch.
Used to be a favorite place. Each time, I have returned to Oshkosh I’ve been happy to revisit this delicious restaurant. Tonight was not one of those nights. First, we had to wait over 20 minutes while we killed our chips/salsa waiting to order. When we called our waiter over, he frowned and returned with MORE CHIPS! We finally ordered only to have him complain to colleagues about our table. Our orders were finally taken, and upon his return…I was given a damaged plate with chucks of ceramic missing while my friends received ceramic plates that appeared BRAND NEW. When I tried to ask for a different plate, he raced away.!!!! Finally, when he returned …more faces, and whisked my plate away. No courtesies, no apologies. 15 minutes later…my meal arrived. My friends were half way through their meals by the time I was given my dinner. Again, no apologies no courtesy gesture!!!!!! Unbelievable!!! .Nothing but rolling eyes and attitude from the waiter. The checks were slapped onto the table!!!!!. Five minutes prior to our departure, we were asked how was our meal!!!!.Before we could answer, he raced away.Terribly rude service. NEVER AGAIN
My favorite place!. We have been going to Durangos since it opened many years ago. We go once a week usually! They are very consistent and everything I have ever tried is fantastic! My favorites are Rio Grande Burrito, Chicken Malenasa and any kind of enchiladas. They have the best chips and salsa around!!
Where is my server? Poor customer service. No hand soap or hand towels in restroom. Enough said.
