Delicious steaks, my husband got the ribeye, I got the 8oz filet, both were cooked perfectly on a sizzling platter. Was worth the money, would recommend to a friend.

Best steak and fish. Stopped by on a recent cold night, got seated right away. We started with cocktails which were perfect and fun. I could make a meal of the cocktails and the salad dressing, but I digress. My husband had the filet – sizzling and perfect. I’m trying to watch calories so I went with the walleye, desperately wanted to have it deep fried, but went with broiled. Fabulous. Tasted like something right from Canadian waters. Brilliant. Even though we had no room, we went with an ice cream drink for dessert, our darling waiter suggested something. A perfect ending to a great meal. BTW, when we told our waiter that we first went to Smoky’s before he was born, he said he gets that a lot! Well worth the money!

Still Worthy Steakhouse. I was a little hesistant about Smoky’s, which has been around forever and has a mostly older clientele and staff to match. A lot of these decades old restaurants come off as dated and resting on their laurels. While the atmosphere and presentation at Smoky’s may be dated as well, the food is still worthy of praise. We got two steaks, one fantastic, one just okay. The 16 oz ribeye was obviously enormous (it provided a full meal’s worth a leftovers the next day), but was under-seasoned and not as tender or juicy as I had hoped. The tenderloin filet was just the opposite–juicy, flavorful, and melt in the mouth tender. Of the non-red meat items, the hashbrowns were great–crisp on the outside, buttery, but not greasy. The clam chowder was forgettable. The decor is half bizarre, half charming–a hoarder’s delight, with basically all of the stuff you might find in someone’s basement hung on the walls. Our waitress wasn’t one for friendly chit-chat, but she was efficient and the food came quickly, so that was fine with me. Grade: B

Great spot. I’ve been to Smoky’s twice and both were great experiences. Nice supper club/steak house atmosphere. Great steaks and great hashbrowns. The attentive and friendly waitstaff is what really made it worthwhile.

Came for dinner once, and that’s all there will ever be, BUT… we love the martini bar!!! Bob is awesome! And the bar menu is actually really good (order the steak sandwich)!

I wanted to enjoy it, I really did. But everything was so bland and–dare I say it? Average. For the steak (even with everything included), I expected more flavor, something that was worth 30+ dollars. The fries were fries. The hash brown was okay. Sadly, I think I enjoyed the bread rolls the most. The beef soup was also good. I can’t help but be confused at the high ratings for Smoky’s. Yes, it has been here long and yes, a lot of people seem to love it but it’s just overpriced, average fare. I think people need to start eating food with actual flavor if they think Smoky’s is great.
