Authentic at its best. This is definitely reserved for the folks who love authentic Thai and Laotian food. The food is not dumbed down thankfully and appropriately seasoned, which means, not overly salted, overly sugared, or overly sauced to cover up the mediocre ingredients. I love the pad thai, well balanced to make it savory and not excessively salty or sweet. One of my favorite places to stop by when craving some Thai food.
Food was not flavored well. My brother had Kung pao expecting it to be spicy but not spicy at all! Not very friendly. Will not go back
This is a great place to eat. A nice quiet place tucked in along 8th st. I had the shrimp curry and it was awesome. They don’t have fortune cookies but they have fortune rolls and they are awesome. Will definitely be coming back.
Thai Lao aka Toys. I am a regular here, and I have to say that some dishes are pretty good, and some others aren’t. It always depends on who is cooking. Most dishes were very good when the original owner was cooking. Now it’s someone else who does the cooking, I believe it to be a family member of the owner, but the food varies on who cooks. Some days the food will be very delicious, and other days it doesn’t taste right. I’m sorry, but the pad thai here is not cooked to taste. There is too much liquid in the pad thai dish, when there shouldn’t be. Papaya is good, depends on who makes it. Customer service, what customer service? The waiter is not that welcoming, needs better customer service.
Came here for dinner with my fianc. I had the pa ke Mao (pretty decent) and my fianc had pho and we shared an order of egg rolls. When we walked in waitress was vacuuming and said we could sit anywhere, she then proceeds to vacuum. When we got our egg rolls my fianc and I have this tradition where we have to break the egg roll in half lol. And to our surprise we found a piece of hair. We told our waitress and she didn’t offer any kind of apology took the plate away and got us a new one. Food was good, but will never go back for the way we were treated.
Excellent place to eat. Went there on Thursday for buffet. The Kung Pao chicken was delicious, had really great taste to it. I also like the pork egg rolls. Toys have the best pork egg rolls I’ve ever had and I’ve been to many Asian restaurants. If you like Thai food, Toys is the real deal. The dining room is small, but cozy and inviting.
Best Thai I have EVER had and I’ve been a lot of places. We live 2 hours away and would make the drive just for it.
