Family tradition to stop here when we come home to visit. Great zebra cones. The medium is huge! Always has been huge and is still huge. They use ice milk rather than cream, and while I love old fashioned ice cream in a bowl, there is nothing better on a hot day then a Belt’s cone. There is always a line of people waiting for this amazingly refreshing stuff during summertime. I always make the trip with my kids. They are teenagers now and they always look forward to Belt’s. It is just one of those successful businesses that will not be around forever, and someday you’re gonna wish it could be open one more day.
An Embarrassment to Wisconsin Dairy. Pour skim milk over a tablespoon of sand, put it in the freezer, and you have Belts’ soft serve. For some reason, locals rave about this place, but i have something to tell you: Just because you get a ton of ice cream for a low price, that doesn’t make it taste good! Standing in line at belt’s reminds me of waiting for food rations in soviet era russia, except when you get to the front of the line you are handed a gigantic pile of inedible grit. Don’t give in to peer pressure and let your friends convince you that belt’s is good. Just say no.
Great local place. The large cone also comes with a drink cup because it is difficult to eat it all in time. They use locally picked strawberries and other fruits. Also, they use home baked brownies and home made peanut butter cups. Anyone who chooses DQ over this place is a lunatic. The flurries are filled over the top of the cup. Prices are well worth it, not expensive. Anyone who doesn’t love this place, I question your patriotism.
A trip back in time. When I was growing up, ice cream stands were everywhere. Belts is like a nice trip back into childhood. As a local icon–rather than another mass market chain–they offer a nice selection of good old-fashioned soft serve ice cream and treats. This isn’t Dairy Queen and thank goodness for that. If everything was mass market, then what would be unique or special about anything?
Go there!. I grew up in Point and Belt’s is amazing, I go every time I visit. The line is going to be long, you’re going to have to wait. But it is always worth it! They have flavors of the day: if its blue moon or butter pecan-GET IT! Also, when strawberries are in season, the strawberry shortcake is out of this world. Can’t wait for them to open again!
Meh. Every town has a place like this that the locals venerate as amazing. It’s nothing special. Most people in this part of the country don’t stray far from where they were born. I’m not from here. East Coast, West Coast, Mid West, New England, the South, Southwest….there’s Soft Serve places just like this wherever you go. The deserts aren’t that great but people line up as if you can’t get it anywhere else. This isn’t a bad review. It’s just not a glowing one. You can find this kind of place anywhere in America serving run of the mill soft serve.
Just like old times!!!!. It reminds me of years ago, (Taste Freeze, etc.), where you could get a soft serve in any type of cone, sundays in any flavor, malts, shakes etc. They use to be in every small town. Just like the old A&W stands. Keep up the great tradition. This place has my vote…………..Top cone in my book.
