Wonderful experience again!. There are so many things that I really enjoy about this restaurant, the first one being that it always has a calm ambiance. The noise level is very, very low, which makes the entire meal much more enjoyable.The last time I was here, our server was great; checked on our table regularly, very polite, and prompt. We ordered a few maki rolls, which were, as always, amazing.I will definitely be back, especially if they bring back their Happy Hour menu soon!
Authentic. The sushi is good, probably best in Milwaukee. Good atmosphere and the service was good. Rolls are not so creative but the quality of the fish is good.
Not the best
Beware of weekday sushi. Being that I lived on a few blocks from Izumi’s, I’ve had a chance to stop in for a few dinners. The first time I visited, the fish was great, authentic, and fresh. I only had one piece that seemed iffy but the rest was fairly well executed, even if the pieces were pretty small. Then we went back again during the week. Bad mistake. The first piece of fish was slimy. Sent it back. Second piece…same result. We finished our drinks and left figuring it was a bad night. Then we returned about a month later and ordered up the usual fare. Same result. The salmon tasted like it had been in someone’s cooler at Bradford beach all afternoon and the hamachi was just not fresh. They did have some other fish that was decent, but when you pay for sushi you expect good fish. We did notice that this place can be very slow during the week and we suspect they try to stretch their supply as long as possible during the week. Haven’t been back in awhile and not sure that I would return unless it was on a weekend.
