What a disapointment!. I read all the great reviews and decided to try Izumi’s…..wow….I must have eaten at a completely different restaurant than other reviewers! The sushi roll was a joke. A sushi roll should be a work of art. Each piece should contain the same ingredients and should look the same. The rice should adhere to the roll. None of this was true. The fish was finely chopped, likely to disguise the fact that it appeared to be a lower grade of fish. Some of the pieces had all fish, no scallion. Other pieces had all scallions, no fish! The rice which wasnt very good was falling off the roll. In a word, it was very sloppy! The kitchen menu was as bad – if not worse. The tempura fish and vegetables were limp and tasteless…the teriyaki chicken was the same.This place is obviously living off of its long reputation….not at all worth the cost.
Best Sushi. This is the absolute best sushi in Milwaukee – I’ve been a regular here for over 10 years and each order of sushi is just as perfect as the one I’ve ordered before it. If we’re in the mood for sushi this is the only place we’ll go to – whenever we’ve tried other sushi in the area we’re constantly disappointed and underwhelmed. The rolls and sushi here are full of flavor and the fish is always fresh and tasty. The malibu fiesta and dragon maki are two of our favorites. If you consider yourself a sushi eater don’t waste your time with any other sushi in the area – this is as good as it gets and you will never be disappointed.
