Food is hit or miss. This was my third time dining at Cafe Bavaria. The ambiance here is great. Our party of five came in on a Sunday evening and was seated at a cozy booth upstairs. Service was also good… our server was very nice, laid back and not pushy at all. After nibbling on the Bavarian pretzel (which you can’t go wrong with) I just ordered a petite spinach salad and a side of frites for my meal. The spinach salad, I have to say, was just really bad. Drowning in dressing and lacking much of the toppings described, it was just… not good. I should have sent it back but was really enjoying the company and didn’t have the energy to bother. My frites… well… were more like limp Applebees steak fries trying to look cool in one of those vertical cone serving baskets. Like most of our experiences at the Lowlands Group restaurants (Benelux, Hollander)… everything’s hit or miss. But too many misses. :~( Please step it up! There are too many good restaurants in Milwaukee and you can’t afford to be mediocre.
