Mediocre at best. Ugh, why do I keep giving this place a chance? Will I never learn that the food is not good? 8:30 on a Sunday night and the close proximity are the reasons tonight, but never again. Chimichanga was okay, but the rice and beans are absolutely terrible. The beans are complete mush with no flavor and the rice was absolutely devoid of any spice, salt and pepper included. How can you make Spanish rice with no flavor? I can see that there are tomatoes and peppers IN the dish, they ARE visible. But why can’t I taste them? A lot of people turn up their noses at Conejito’s, but Hector’s could really take a cue from their rice and beans. Best beans in Milwaukee, hands down. And why is that? They use LARD! That is authentic Mexican cooking.Would be nice if another Mexican restaurant would come to Wauwatosa…
Great fish tacos. I can understand why some people wouldn’t like this place but I thought it was ok. Fresh salsa and fish tacos were very good but a little more expensive than I expected
Disappointed at Hector’s. Good service but the food was strictly average. The ground beef and the shrimp in the tacos were awful. Wouldn’t go back and would not recommend.
Fantastic Mexican! Any of the combo plates, carnitas, tamales for appetizers. Good margaritas too, they don’t skimp in tequila and are generous with complimentary ‘rita coups to friendly patrons.
Had the tacos barbacoa off the daily specials menu. They were the worse tasting tacos I have ever tasted. Way over seasoned and bitter tasting meat. A very unenjoyable meal for me. On the other hand my wife did enjoy her shrimp fajitas.
Great Happy Hour. This was one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. Fresh salsa, great margaritas, good tortillas.Lots of vegetarian options too.Happy hour is every day from 4-6 and there are great deals on margaritas and appetizers.
Poor. Overpriced and slow. $4.25 for a crummy tiny burrito with missing ingredients. They’re not even trying, so you shouldn’t either.
