Great service, Great food. This is a joint with an edge. Try it you will not be disappointed. Its diner food amped up to high culinary performance without the price. Simply great food in a relaxed diner atmosphere.
So fun! Only true diner experience in town. But part of the draw of a good diner is homey goodness ANYTIME. Please, please, please extend your hours? At least Sunday brunch!!!
You don’t have to walk through the doors to know this place is wonderful. Just look at the face of any customer coming out. Walk in and find out why; you’ll see the history splattered against the wall. Only the best places in town can persist as long as the Mint.The staff is exceptional! You’ll be greeted and seated in moments. You’ll have time to look at the menu after the waitress grabs your drink order. If you know what you love, you’ll have your order to grill just as quickly. The food comes out fairly quickly, hot and tasty. You can dine outdoors on lovely days, across from the town square–in perfect position to hear whatever random music or event is taking place.
Gluten free friendly!. One of the few places in Wausau offering gluten free bread and bun alternatives. Great food!
Had breakfast. Huge cinnamon roll but not the best. Eggs, pancakes, bacon as expected. Good Texas bread for French toast. Wheat toast thick cut, grains. Good but not spectacular. Server friendly.
Always a good meal at The Mint. Very friendly place. I like that they post their daily specials on Twitter. I tweeted them once, asking that they tell me the next time they had sweet potato fries, and they did! Gotta love that!
Homecooking – Retro dining. The Mint Cafe has been a fixture in Wausau since 1888, and they serve some of the best breakfast and lunches in town. They still have a ‘blue’ plate special and will deliver in the downtown area. When I get the urge for blueberry pie this is where I venture to. They have counter, booth and table seating. The Big Ragu only does tables – he has been at the Mint too many times.
