Don’t offend the Chef!. My husband and I visited Eddie Martinis on a recent Saturday evening for a late Valentines Day celebration. I have recommended the restaurant to people in the past, even purchasing gift certificates on a number of occasions. Unfortunately, I will never recommend it or patronize this restaurant again. Our meal started off on the right foot with fabulous drinks: a Cosmopolitan and a Martini with a wonderfully creamy bleu cheese stuffed olive. The crab cake appetizer we shared was fine, although not as good as another local fine-dining restaurant that I frequent: the crab was stringy and not the large chunks of sweet and succulent crab that I prefer. A glass of wine complemented the food well.My husband enjoyed his spinach salad very much. My Caprese salad was decent, although slightly over-dressed, and the extremely course grade of salt used to season it gave it an unpleasantly hard crunch. My scallop entre was okay, except for a few sandy bites and the mediocrity of the remainder of the dish. Still, I wasnt displeased enough to offer any complaints about my selections. The main problem that evening was my husbands New York Strip, which he ordered medium-well and received medium-rare. Our waiter politely offered to have the steak re-fired, but the Chef was obviously offended that the steak was returned. When it was brought back to the table, it had at least 14 inch of hard black char on the top, and the bottom remained clearly red (not pink). The waiter agreed that the steak was now beyond repair, and offered to have another one prepared. My husband stated that his side dishes were already getting cold, and that I was almost finished with my meal, so simply asked that the cost of the steak be taken off the bill. The waiter obliged, but never offered to replace the sides as well as the steak to ensure proper temperature of the entire meal. Instead, a dessert with bananas and two tablespoonful-sized scoops of ice cream with some chocolate sauce was brought to the table. Unfortunately, my husband is allergic to bananas and was unable to eat the dessert. It might have been a nice touch to offer a free dessert ordered off the menu to compensate for the inconvenience, so that he could have something that he could actually eat, but I acknowledge that bananas are a cheaper option for them to offer. Also, the manager never presented himself to the table to apologize or to try to rectify the situation. Disappointed, my husband politely paid $168 for the bill and tip, but on the way out he decided to ask to speak to the manager to make sure that he knew what had happened. The manager, Chris, stated that he and the whole staff knew about it and, shrugging his shoulders, asked What do you want me to do about it nowAt $39 a steak, you would think a reputable restaurant would ensure the meat is cooked correctly. And, what self-respecting Chef sends out an extremely charred piece of meat? I guess he accomplished his goal of insulting my husband, so at least he must have been satisfied that evening. I know that recent reviews of the restaurant have also reported meat that was not cooked as ordered, average quality entrees, and food that has been over-salted. Ive even seen reviews complaining about the manager. It seems as though Eddie Martinis may be falling into the category of out-dated restaurants who are simply relying on their past reputation to get by instead of continuously trying to ensure a quality dining experience in the present and future.
Went with friends for a birthday dinner. Got a pomegranate martini as suggested by previous reviews and it was amazing! Lobster bisque was just okay but 6 oz. filet with blue cheese was great. Good risotto and ahi tuna. Chocolate cake was insane. Service was really nice. Felt a little underdressed in jeans.
Went for lunch. Fantastic dry-aged Prime sirloin with exquisite au jus marinade. Fresh baked bread, salads good! Had the dessert trio which included mini creme brle, bread pudding & chocolate truffle. Excellent & $130 for 4 people not including tip.
Expected More. Went here with the hubby, I got a pomegranate martini, which was excellent. I was a little disappointed in the steaks, just okay, but I tend not to like my steaks so charred on the outside that they are crunchy – but maybe others do. The garlic mashed potatoes were just okay. Will keep looking for a good steak place, probably won’t return here..
Pretty decent…. My wife and I recently ate here for our 10th wedding anniversary. It was our first time here, but it came highly recommended by friends. The service was very good. In fact, too good. I couldn’t get more than two sips from my glass of water without it being refilled. It actually became quite annoying after a while. But, better too much service than not enough. For apps my wife got the Caesar salad and I got the lobster bisque. The bisque was fabulous but my wife’s salad left a bit to be desired. It was way over dressed and the dressing itself was a little heavy on the mustard. For the main, I got the ribeye and my wife got the fillet. Both steaks were some of the best we have ever had. Perfectly seasoned mine was cooked just a tad under what I had asked for, but no so much that it was worth pursuing. We both had the garlic mashed potatoes and both thought they were good, but nothing special. We didn’t stay for desert as we had a birthday party to attend. All in all it was a good experience and someday I would return. But I have a few other places to try first.
Tasty!. Been here many times. Food is always great. Steaks are superb! Service usually suspect, but other than that, great place for a upscale/pricey night on the town.
This is one of the Milwaukee originals! Great steaks! Impressive service. Amazing seafood tower.
