I love Johnny V’s. I’ve been there numerous times throughout my life but I feel the need to write a review in case anybody is wondering if they should stop there someday. Always consistently good service. It’s the kind of place that’s always usually busy but there’s never really a long wait. The food is great. having said that, I should tell you that about 90% of the time I go there it’s for breakfast. I may have had two sandwiches there. Maybe a dinner or two. You can get a bloody Mary with your breakfast and a whole plethora of things to choose from. I just think it’s always good. I’m never disappointed and it’s a very comfortable atmosphere.
I’m a long-time fan of Johnny V’s, but I have to say that the meals I’ve had on my last two visits were sub-par compared to what I’ve been used to getting in the past. I just met a business associate there for breakfast recently and I was surprised to find that the breakfast menu had been paired down considerably, now down to basically one page and only about a dozen selections. The gyro meat I got with my gyro and eggs breakfast was over-cooked and tough. The tzatziki sauce was watered down and bland. The hash browns – and it was a big portion of hash browns – were served somewhat lukewarm. The only saving grace for the meal was the very pleasant staff that continues to be welcoming and sincere when it comes to truly helping the customers. It may be because the quality of the food has suffered over the past few months that they have to be overly friendly and accommodating to keep the customers from really ragging on the downturn of Johnny V’s. Sadly, this is not the same Johnny V’s that I first fell in love with during a late night meal 20-some years ago… roadtips.typepad.com
Johnny V’s Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. Definitely go for this one. Bacon, tomato, and avocado are good, but the soup makes it. Their tomato soup is awesome.
For as extensive of a menu, Ive never had anything I dont like. Fron breakfast to dinner, everythings solid. And get a bowl of chicken dumplin…awesome soup.
Deceptively large inside. Good service and good, classic, hearty breakfast. Nice brunch spot when everything else is busy. Will return for dinner sometime.
