This is the first review, good or bad, I have ever written…anyways, my husband and I came here on Friday night around 6:45 for dinner. The bar was empty and the restaurant had about 7-8 tables full with 3 waitresses. We were seated at 7 and waited at the table until 7:20 until the waitress even came to greet us. 20 minutes! Luckily menus were already at the table. When she came for the first time she quickly took our order. We waited another 15 minutes for our crab cakes and complimentary bread then I waited at LEAST 15 minutes for a water refill. Our dinner was served about 55 minutes after we were seated– with us having to ask for refills on our drinks every single time. She wasn’t a very kind or engaging waitress either. The fish fry was ok and my husbands bison meatloaf was good, but the WAIT and SERVICE was horrible. We will not be back. We appreciate small businesses but slow service and poor wait staff is no excuse!!!
Think I’ll pass…. After reading these reviews, I think I’m better off passing on this place. Mostly, I am shocked at the owner’s defensive tirade. For a restaurant owner to reply that a reviewer who had a legitimate complaint was out of line, was out of line! I think the reviewer had every right to be offended after first not even being able to find an employee when they came in, and then being unapologetically refused service and especially at being given the explanation that the owner wanted to go home and watch TV! Seriously…??
I am the owner of Cafe Soeurette, I don’t really think people understand how twisted around and hurtful these reviews can be to a business. Normally I let these things roll off my back not this time. The last reviewed posted on here was out of line. We only prep so much as to not waste. This night in question was election evening which typically in years past is very slow evening. Opening with not a single reservation on the books we had an extremly busy evening. We had already decided earlier in the evening that we may close early due to election, and being a small business owner I believe that is my right. Of course yes I was curious as to what was happening with election because I am a business owner. Until you have walked in someone else shoes, and know the actual facts dont be so quick to judge. Because we were so busy and yes had ran out of numerous items would you have preferred to sit and then have us tell you what we had all ran out of that in my mind was a worse of 2 evils surely you would have wrote a bad review after that as well. I strive everyday to give my customers they best service and culinary experience I & my staff can. We are not perfect but we strive to be our best.
Extremely Disappointed!. A group of us stopped in to have dinner last night around 8:10 PM. Their website and sign on the door stated they served dinner until 9 PM. The bar was empty and there were about three full tables where people were eating & drinking. We waited patiently by the hostess stand to be seated and after a few minutes of not seeing anyone we decided to call them on our cell phone. The phone at the hostess station rang and finally went to voicemail after no one answered. We then walked over to one of the kitchen doors and knocked with no answer. We tried the other kitchen door and someone saw us and threw up a finger at us, stating one minute. A server finally came out and said that they were not seating any more people tonight. She said that they were pretty much out of food. We said that we would be happy with appetizers and drinks. She stated that no, they werent serving anymore food and that the owner, Jodi, wanted to go home and watch TV. After leaving and getting into our car we noticed that the OPEN sign was still lit. We have been to Caf Soeurette many times in the past for dinner, but after being treated like this we will not return and as with all bad service, we will be telling everyone. I guess its just another restaurant owner in West Bend that doesnt get it….sad!!
The Best Restaurant in West Bend.. I love Cafe Sourette. I can take wife for delicious dining with great service. A bad day at work can be transformed into a satisfying meal on the edge of the Milwaukee River. As for recommendations, try the farm to table menu. These entrees are planned around local food. It is hard to find anything fresher. I had pheasant last night.
Valentine special. We had ordered the Grilled tenderloin with dark chocolate balsamic demi glace and the Seared salmon topped with sweet crab and white chocolate lemon hollandaise. The salad was ok. The tenderloin had no flavor and the salmon was very fishy. The only thing that was good was the dessert which was a Raspberry chocolate torte. We will never go back. Sorry to say.
Less than satisfying experience. Although it came highly recommended, my date and I had a less than satisfying experience last Saturday night. It started with two wines at the bar. My dates glass was fine, but mine had a cloudy look to it and tasted flat. When I asked the bartender about it, he told it was probably because it was from the bottom of the bottle. I took another drink and asked for another glass from the new bottle. If I was not happy with the first glass, did I really need to ask?We then went to sit down for 6pm reservation and we Were seated in a cozy table for two, which would been fine if the legs weren’t uneven making every movement during the meal an experience. The entrees were good, eventhough they were a bit on the bland side. My date had the Salmon over a bed of plain mashed potatoes. Might have been better over a seasoned redskin mashed. I had the porkloin, which had a bit more fat than I would have preferred. Finally, our desserts came. I had the Carrot Cake, which was good. But the Creme Brulee was a disaster. The custard was runny due to the fact that the top was probably heated under a salamander instead of a small hand torch. For obvious reasons, I would not recommend or go back.
