Bad food, bad attitude of server 12/9/14. Husband and I ate there because it was convenient, despite negative reviews from friends. I ordered the mostaccioli with a side salad. The salad came and 90% of the lettuce was brown on the edges. I asked the server to take it back and bring me soup instead. He seemed testy. When the pasta came I asked where the garlic bread was and he said it did not come with the meal. (I know of no other local restaurant that doesn’t serve garlic bread with the pasta). I asked if I could get some. I heard him discuss it with the cook, along with what they thought it should cost. When the meal came, the pasta was broken up and mushy. The sauce was tasteless. The garlic bread consisted of one 2 in. by 4 in. slice of toasted bread like the type in the basket they bring. My husband ordered the Gyro platter, with fries. There was the least amount of meat we had ever seen on a gyro and no fries. The server said it came with a side salad, not potato when my husband asked where the fries were. Regardless if they came with the platter or not, he wanted fries. The side salad consisted of a hunk of lettuce on the plate. The tomatoes and onions are part of the Gyro. When we got the bill, we saw we were charged $1.99 for the 1 slice of toast. We mentioned that it was a ridiculous charge. Apparently the server was unaware that we overheard his conversation with the cook about what to charge for it, he told us that was the standard charge for garlic bread and if we didn’t like it we should take it up with the owner. We won’t because we won’t go back.10 Dec, 2014Waiter rude and nasty food 12/9/14. We have given this restaurant 3 other chances. I still can’t figure out why we tried again. I ordered the mostaccioli. I chose a salad instead of soup. It came with 90% of the lettuce brown on the edges. When I asked the waiter to take it back and bring soup instead he seemed testy. Soup came lukewarm. I asked if the pasta came with garlic bread (when doesn’t it?) he said no. I said I wanted some and could they make it. We were only two of four people there at the time. I heard the waiter discuss the garlic bread with the cook because he didn’t know what to charge for it. The cook said he would try to make some. That shouldn’t be tough for a restaurant cook. The pasta came lukewarm. It was broken and mushy as if it had been sitting on the stove all day, and the sauce was totally unseasoned and tasteless. The garlic bread was a joke. It was one 2 inch by 4 inch piece of toasted french bread. The bill came and we were charged $1.99 for that slice of bread. I told the waiter that was ridiculous to charge almost $2.00 for one slice of bread. He said that was what it cost, apparently unaware that I heard his conversation with the cook, and if I didn’t like it I should take it up with the owner. Needless to say, we are through with Sophia’s. There are other restaurants in town with decent food and friendly waitstaff.
Male. I and my wife ate there tonight and it was the worst I could see. The waitress had someone running behind her and she did not seem to really know what was going on. The food was bad= bad
Poor place to eat. Went to Sofia’s family Restaurant July 5th for Breakfast. We arrived at 10 am. The restaurant was half full with most eating . We were seated and ignored by waitress. She finally showed up and took drink orders. It took her 10 mins to bring back our water and coffee. We placed our food order and then the wait began. No refills of coffee. No word of when our food may show up. She walked past a table many times that was dirty. She ignored the dirty table for 30 mins. Finally picked up dishes but didn’t wipe it off. Now we are closing in to 60 mins without food or refills. Food was coming out of kitchen about 1 plate per 5 mins as we could tell. Other people were getting as pissed as we were for waiting for food. . Finally after 1 1/2 hours without food sitting waiting for breakfast we decided to just get up and leave. Lord knows when and if any food came out. Funny thing was other tables were saying look they are leaving lets go also. Very very poor place. Stay away. We drove across town to Gracies by shopko mall. Seated , drinks and food was out in 5 mins. We all know where we are going from now on. Explains why Sofia’s are not busy. Run away as fast as you can.
Will not go here again!. We decided to go to sophia’s today, 7-5-14, rather than run all way south of town to misty’s, our usual spot for breakfast. (we’ve never had a bad experience at Misty’s…..a word to the wise) the parking lot was full, so we took that as a good sign…..wrong!! we should have taken it to mean sssss-llll-ooooo-wwwww. the waitress arrived in what seemed like a snit, said they couldn’t sub the bacon IN an omelet for the bacon on the side of an omelet….i didn’t want a different meat, just a different location on the plate. after taking our order she came back and literally threw the silverware onto our table, startling us both. our waitress never came back to keep us updated on our order or refill our glasses. after 48 minutes and no meal we decided we’d just hit the golden arches…for what was now lunch as we’d missed breakfast. if they were minus a cook like one of the waitresses said perhaps they should have told us that and given us the option of waiting three quarters of an hour for 3 eggs and an omelet?!?!05 Jul, 2014Will not go here again!. Worst. Meal. Ever.. The salad was fine. The bread was stale and dry. And then the main course….it was beyond awful….by far the worst meal I have ever been served anywhere, ever. I ordered sweet sour chicken, and got what amounted to soggy, overboiled rice (at least I think it was rice…it was so mushy I’m not quite sure), boiled chicken with zero seasoning, cut into tough strips, and some sliced veggies (I think they used to be peppers?) that were cooked beyond having any flavor at all. This whole mess was swimming in a soup that was red, but had exactly zero flavor and was thin and runny. It seriously was like a big dish of soup….everything was floating in an inch and a half of slop. I sent it back, paid my bill (which the waitress kindly deducted the entree from, but I tipped her as if I’d had the whole meal…she shouldn’t have to suffer because the cook was incompetent), and left. I will not be back. Ever.
So Disappointing. My husband & I met friends here for the Friday Fish Fry. We had been warned that it was bad but decided to keep an open mind. From the moment we walked in the door it was one disappointment after another. We were first struck with how hot the place was. Then we had a waiter who was very young and obviously completely untrained. I don’t blame him. I actually felt sorry for him because he was put on the floor totally unprepared. I used to work for a restaurant where I went through an extensive training program that started before I even was allowed on the floor. Then I had to follow other wait staff for a few shifts who then followed me as I starting taking tables. I eventually became the head trainer for this restaurant so I know of what I speak. Honestly this is one of the biggest problems with most of the restaurants in this town but I digress. Let’s talk about the food. The salads were a sad excuse, head lettuce with one little wedge of tomato. My husband had french onion soup. Terrible. Then the fish. Each of us had a different thing, perch, blue gill, mahi mahi and tilapia. It was all horrible. The blue gill was three little fillets that looked like minnows. The perch wasn’t much better. The mahi mahi was overcooked. When you are paying over $10 a plate you expect a little more. The vegetable was corn, obviously out of a can. Really? My husband’s home fries were a greasy mess. Don’t even ask me about the baked potato. The menu said our dinners came with the dessert of the month which turned out to be a scoop of ice cream. So, all in all it was a disappointment from beginning to end. We will not be going there again. It is pretty bad when the husband stops at Chips on the way home to get a couple of burgers. Maybe the owners should watch a few episodes of Restaurant Impossible on Food Network.
Food is plain.. Now a very good place for food.
