Food here was average Mexican food. The service was good with a lovely atmosphere. A friend and I shared 2 plates of small soft tacos, non were inspiring but still nice. They did however have an excelent range of tequilas and great guacamole.
Tried Hatch last week. A poor choice on my part unfortunately. I figured Tex Mex style vs real Mexican food, but it was worse. The space was modern and clean. Chips and salsa is $3. The chips were hard and stale and the salsa had a chipotle flavor, but tastes canned. Tried the polzole soup and it was truly disgusting. The red chile powder in the soup was unresolved and was gritty. The street tacos were the tiniest I’d ever seen and at $4 a piece. Tried the carnitas and it was tough and unflavored. The verde salsa that came with it was the only redeeming part of the meal. The rice and beans they brought out got one bite each. Think it was uncle bens instant microwave Spanish rice with mushy black bean paste for beans. They had a nice selection of tequilas. I’ll give them that.
Hatch is cute and conveniently located in the center of Jackson. The food is excellent as well as the tequila selection. The tacos and the guacamole were fantastic. I recommend trying it!
