  • Homemade breadcrumbs: 1 cup (128g)
  • Grated carrots: 2 (approximately 200g or 7oz)
  • Onion, finely chopped: 1/2 (about 60g or 2oz)
  • Egg: 1 (large)
  • Tomato sauce: 2 tablespoons (30ml)
  • Barbecue sauce: 2 tablespoons (30ml)
  • Italian herbs: 1 teaspoon (5ml)
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon (5g)
  • Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon (2.5g)

Method

  • In a large bowl, combine 1kg of beef mince with 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 2 grated carrots, and 1/2 a finely chopped onion.
  • Add 1 large egg, 2 tablespoons each of tomato sauce and barbecue sauce, 1 teaspoon of Italian herbs, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper to the mixture.
  • Mix thoroughly to ensure the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Shape the mixture into equal-sized patties to ensure uniform cooking.
  • Preheat your pie maker and place the patties in the cooking wells, being careful not to overcrowd.
  • Press down gently on each patty with a glass jar lid to slightly flatten and promote even cooking.
  • Cook the rissoles for approximately 4 minutes on each side at a high temperature until golden brown, which equates to about 8 minutes total cooking time or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
